Chop up the onion and scallion. 2. Heat a pan with 2 tbsp of cooking oil, add the onion and fry stirring constantly for 5 minutes over medium heat until golden brown. 3. Add the chopped white part of scallion and ½ tsp of salt and fry stirring for 3 minutes more over medium heat until caramelized. 4. Into a large bowl add 3 ¼ cups | 400 g of the sieved all-purpose flour, caramelized onion, chopped up green part of scallion and 1 tsp of salt, stir well with a spatula or fork. 5. Melt the dry yeast in 1 cup | 250 ml of warm water, add to the flour and onion mix, knead the dough soft, cover the bowl with a food film or a towel and leave for an hour into a warm place for double in size. 6. Preheat the oven to 460°F | 240°C. 7. Dust an even and clean working surface with flour, lay out the dough, spread evenly with hands not stretching much and roll up as a loaf. 8. Replace the bread onto the parchment lined baking sheet, make a diagonal cut, cover with a towel and leave for 30 minutes. 9. Bake the bread in the oven preheated to 460°F | 240°C at «convection upper and lower heat» mode for 15 minutes with an oven-safe container with water under the baking sheet. 10. In 15 minutes remove the container with water, reduce the heat to 430°F | 220°C and bake for another 10 minutes. 11. Take the baked bread out of the oven and leave for an hour at room temperature. 👍 Advices: 1. In order for the yeast to start working, warm liquid is needed, and the temperature should be between 77°F | 25°C - 95°F | 35°C. 2. Yellow onion can be substituted with red onion or leeks. Scallions are optional. 3. Cooking oil can be substituted with butter. 4. The steam generated during bread baking gives it a beautiful color and a crispy crust. #onionbread
