It is believed that the Gopis worshipped Krishna on the banks of Kalindi to get her as her husband. Due to its being worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri, also called Chhath Maiya, this form of Mata is a symbol of power for men who despise women as weak. Mahishasura also had the same illusion that no woman who looked soft could kill a fierce demon like me. He thought that he had asked Brahmaji for a woman for the boon of death. By destroying her pride in her power, the mother not only restored religion but also honoured the power of women.
