This recipe will help you cook a traditional holiday turkey for a family dinner without fuss or long preparation. The turkey comes out juicy, with a crispy golden crust and a unique aroma. Your main task is to avoid over-drying the turkey in the oven. ✅ Ingredients: • turkey – 7,7 lb / 3,5 kg • butter – 6 oz / 180 g • 1 lemon • 3 onions • garlic – 4 cloves • dried thyme – 2 tsp • 5 sage leaves • fresh parsley – ⅓ oz / 10 g • sweet paprika – 1 tsp • ground nutmeg – ⅓ tsp • ground black pepper – 1 tsp • salt – 2 tsp ✔︎ You will need: - oven - baking sheet - baking paper - bowl - aluminum foil 📙 Preparation: 1. Rinse the turkey and wipe it with paper towels. 2. Mix 3,5 oz / 130 g of butter with dried thyme, sage leaves, sweet paprika, ground nutmeg, salt, pepper and lemon zest in a bowl. 3. Gently detach turkey skin from meat, rub the meat under the skin and inside the bird with the prepared seasoning, place the onions cut in two and fresh parsley inside the cavity. 4. Tie the ankles of the legs together to cover the cavity and tuck the wing tips behind the shoulders. 5. Coat the turkey with 2 oz / 50 g of soft butter, place it on a baking sheet, lined with baking paper, and cover with aluminum foil. 6. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven and cook for 2 hours at 320°F / 160°C. 7. Remove the foil and cook for 10-15 minutes in the oven at 350°F / 180°C. 8. Serve your turkey hot, with veggies, potatoes or rice. ❗️Advices 1. The temperature of the inside of the cooked turkey should be 160°F / 70-72°C. If you don’t have a kitchen thermometer, insert a wooden stick near the center of the turkey, if the liquid that comes out is clear, the turkey is ready. 2. Mind that it takes on average 40 minutes to cook 1 kg of turkey.
