About Video - LOVE IS A TREASURE by the Del Mar Sisters (Throwback Song) The Del Mar Sisters are a 1960s Philippine singing duo composed of Ms. Anita Maranan Gacutan a.k.a. Anita Del Mar, hailed as 'Doris Day of the Philippines' and Ms. Carmelita Maranan Gacutan a.k.a. Carmelita Del Mar, hailed as 'Patti Page of the Philippines'. They are contemporaries of Ms. Nora Aunor, Ms. Perla Adea and Mr. Eddie Peregrina among many other prominent talents during that golden era. Anita started her singing career when she was only 5 and 1/2 years old. She was adjudged first prize in the 'Tawag ng Kapalaran' hosted by Rafael 'Paeng' Yabut aired over DZBB radio station when she was 11 years old. At the age of 15, she consistently had a series of guestings at the then Soda Fountain restaurant in downtown Manila and was hailed as 'Doris Day of the Philippines'. Carmelita joined 'Talents Unlimited of CBN Broadcasting and won 7 times in 7 consecutive weeks. She was declared grand champion and hailed as 'Patti Page of the Philippines'. Mr. Ike Lozada, host of the said show soon managed her to be aligned with other prominent talents like Ms. Nora Aunor. Years later, it was then discovered that the two are sisters - singing sisters that is. In 1968, Tita Betty Mendez of CBN Broadcasting decided to produce a singing duo, a first in the Philippines. Thus, the 'Del Mar Sisters' was born. Numerous guestings have been conducted in radio shows, some of these were DZRH's Marvex Variety Show, CBN's Variety Special with Ms. Helen Gamboa-Sotto, and Talents Unlimited with Mr. Vic Morales. In their heydays, the Del Mar Sisters were able to produce their album with the following songs: 1. Ikaw Gali Salamwanan 2. Inulbudnak o Biagko 3. Eternally True 4. Agpakadaakon Biagko 5. Love is a Treasure 6. All of a Sudden 7. Kontrabida 8. My Way 9. Maniwala Ka Sa Akin 10. Kontrabida (Long Version) Del Mar Sisters' singing career was halted when Anita fell in love with Mr. Pepito Zamora Guerrero who is a radio broadcaster at that time and to date (presently connected with Net 25 TV/Radyo Agila radio station). Afterwhich, Anita dedicated her singing prowess for the Church where she belongs from her birth up to the moment - the IGLESIA NI CRISTO (CHURCH OF CHRIST). She has been a member of the INC Choir based in the Locale of Central Temple in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines for four decades and left only the noble calling when she had a throat infection resulting in her hospitalization. Anita and Pepito were blessed with three kids namely, Grandeur; Gehntry; and Guehdeon. Unfortunately, nobody among them followed the footsteps of their mother as they have other inclinations though all three have been members also of the Church Choir. At present, Anita is just minding her grandkids and together with the whole family continues to faithfully serve the Almighty GOD in whatever capacity that they can while Carmelita who is also living happily with her children and grandchild is still a Deaconess and Finance Officer of the INC in the Locale of Rodriguez in Montalban, Rizal.
