In today's video, we're diving into a grocery store adventure to show you how I, as a Type 1 Diabetic, maintain a balanced diet. We're focusing on protein-packed, healthy fats, and low-carb meals that anyone can enjoy, whether you're diabetic or not. Salmon Seasoning Instructions: 16oz salmon, cut into cross cross pattern Salt n Pepper to taste 1/2 tsp of garlic powder 1/2 tsp of onion powder 1/2 tsp of chili powder 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika 2 teaspoons of olive oil Put all above ingredients on salmon and brush with (sauce for salmon - see instructions below) and cook in the air fryer on 400degreez Fahrenheit for 5 - 25 minutes (sorry depending on the thickness of salmon the time will vary) Sauce for Salmon: 1/2 cup of kewpie mayo (or light mayo) 2 tbs of soya sauce 2 tbs of sweet chili sauce 2 tbs of siracha 2 garlic cloves minced (optional) Mix all ingredients together and brush on salmon before and after cooked Cucumber Salad: Cucumbers - slice 1 whole cucumber Red onions - cut up half of 1 onion Jalapeno - cut up 1 jalapeno Rice wine vinegar - add in 2 tbs of rice wine vinegar Honey - add a drizzle of honey Avocado - 1 sliced and diced avocado (cut into smaller squares/ chunks Salt - to taste Mix all ingredients together. Key Tips for Type 1 Diabetics: Shop the Perimeter: Focus on the outside aisles of the grocery store for fresh produce, meats, and whole foods that are easier on blood sugar levels. Pre-made Options: If you're short on time, don't hesitate to grab pre-made items like rotisserie chicken or salmon. It's a great way to stay on track without the hassle. Carb Management: I’ll show you how to manage carbs effectively, with a focus on whole grains and balanced meals that include good fats to stabilize your blood sugars. Glucometer Check: Stay on top of your blood sugar readings. I’ll share my personal ratio calculations and how I adjust insulin doses to match my evening meals.
